Children in Worship
We believe that children learn to worship best by worshiping with their parents and seeing other kids involved in worship. They are welcome at any age, and at least by 3 years old, we’d like to worship with them. We invite your children to gather for a special Children's Message during our Sunday service.
Sunday School
Sunday School for ages 3–11 at 9 am is a 25-minute kids prep for Sunday worship. Children work through activities that help unlock the message of the day and are given follow-up pew activities for those more difficult-to-engage moments like the sermon.
Sunday Childcare
We offer optional free childcare for babies and toddlers (ages 0 to 3) supervised by Trista Montgomery, a state-certified Child Care Teacher. Of course, babies and toddlers are also welcome in the pews with parents. Alert the church office that you need childcare: churchoffice@blcelgin.org or call 847-741-8434.
Vacation Bible School
Our annual VBS typically takes place in late June or July. Expect fun-filled days consisting of drama, crafts, and worship!
Child Development Center
The CDC is one of our key missions, offering care to children from infancy to kindergarten. Visit the Child Development Center website for more information.
Youth
Ask us about fun activities like Enchanted Castle or a mission trip to Niagara Falls. Join us to serve the community at Feed My Starving Children or the Elgin Soup Kettle. Attend summer Leadership Lab at Augustana College or join us at the ELCA National Youth Gathering in 2024.
Leadership Lab
Leadership Lab is for teens who have completed their freshman year of high school. It’s designed to help students grow while experiencing Christ's love in the community. Visit leadershiplab.net for more information.

Youth in Grades 6 - 9 will learn about the church, worship, and their faith. Come and development a relationship with others as you learn about God and his love.
